چکیده
Effects of randomness on the spin-1 2 and 1 antiferromagnetic Heisen-berg chains are studied using the quantum Monte Carlo method with the continuous-time loop algorithm. We precisely calculated the uniform susceptibility , string order parameter, spatial and temporal correlation length, and the dynamical exponent, and obtained a phase diagram. The generalization of the continuous-time loop algorithm for the systems with higher-S spins is also presented.

Low-temperature properties of the spin-1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with bond-alternation
We investigate the low-temperature properties of the spin-1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with bond-alternation by the quantum Monte Carlo method (loop algorithm). The strength of bond-alternation at the gapless point is estimated as δc = 0.2595 ± 0.0005. We confirm numerically that the low-temperature properties at the gapless point are consistent with field theoretical predictions. The n...
متن کاملLocal magnetic structure due to inhomogeneity of interaction in S = 1 / 2 antiferromagnetic chain
We study the magnetic properties of S = 1/2 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chains with inhomogeneity of interaction. Using a quantum Monte Carlo method and an exact diagonalization method, we study bond-impurity effect in the uniform S = 1/2 chain and also in the bond-alternating chain. Here ‘bond impurity’ means a bond with strength different from those in the bulk or a defect in the alternating...
متن کاملLow - Lying Excitations in the S = 1 Antiferromagnetic Heisenberg Chain
In order to confirm the picture of domain-wall excitations in the hidden antiferromagnetic order of the Haldane phase, the structure of the low-lying excitations in the S = 1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain is studied by a quantum Monte Carlo method. It is confirmed that there exists a finite energy gap between the firstand the second-excited states at k = π as well as between the ground sta...
متن کاملv 2 2 5 Ju l 1 99 5 A novel intermediate phase in S = 2 antiferromagnetic chains with uniaxial anisotropy
We study ground state properties of the S = 2 quantum antiferromagnetic chain with a uniaxially anisotropic Hamiltonian: H = ∑ j [Sj ·Sj+1+D(S z j ) 2] by a Monte Carlo calculation. While it has been reported that a string order parameter vanishes exponentially at the isotropic Heisenberg point (D = 0), we found it tends to remain finite in the thermodynamic limit around D = 1.2. This implies t...
متن کاملMonte Carlo study of half–magnetization plateau and magnetic phase diagram in pyrochlore antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model
The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on a pyrochlore lattice under external magnetic field is studied by classical Monte Carlo simulation. The model includes bilinear and biquadratic interactions; the latter effectively describes the coupling to lattice distortions. The magnetization process shows a half–magnetization plateau at low temperatures, accompanied with strong suppression of the mag...
